We raise an alarm to the international community regarding the alarming actions of President Umaro Sissocco Embalo of Guinea-Bissau. His recent statement, declaring that certain individuals cannot become president, is a blatant disregard for democratic principles and a threat to the country’s stability.
This authoritarian declaration is a clear indication of President Embalo’s desire to maintain power and control, rather than respecting the will of the people. His statement has sparked fears of potential anarchy and insecurity in Guinea-Bissau, and the international community must take notice.
We urge the United Nations, African Union, and other global organizations to condemn President Embalo’s actions and support the people of Guinea-Bissau in their quest for democracy and peace. The international community must hold President Embalo accountable for his actions and ensure that he does not undermine the democratic process.
The people of Guinea-Bissau deserve the right to choose their leaders freely, without interference from those in power. We call on President Embalo to respect the democratic process and work towards a peaceful transition of power.
THE WORLD IS WATCHING
We appeal to the international community to:
- Condemn President Embalo’s undemocratic statement
- Support the people of Guinea-Bissau in their quest for democracy
- Hold President Embalo accountable for his actions
- Ensure a peaceful transition of power in Guinea-Bissau
The fate of Guinea-Bissau hangs in the balance, and it is our collective responsibility to act.
